Prepaid Phones in Slovenia

Slovenia has experienced tremendous cellular growth in the last two years to become the most highly penetrated market in Eastern Europe - 87% at end-2008. Prepaid has been a significant driver with 108% growth in the prepaid market in 2000ths.
Mobitel launched its prepaid service in November 1998 and, despite being prepaid market leader, has a smaller proportion (61%) of its customers using prepaid than its competitor, SI.Mobil, which has 90% of its customers on prepaid.
SI.Mobil’s Halo prepaid service is run on its GSM 040 network, which launched in November 1999. It offers a full complement of value-added services, including roaming, to prepaid users and three denominations of recharge cards.
