Mobicus Permissionware is the technology used inside Mobicus that manages and uses individual mobile user permissions and preferences. Using Permissionware, users of the platform can prevent unsolicited commercial messages (spam) in their campaigns.

The Permissionware technology stores two types of permissions of mobile users: opt-in values and tolerance levels (i.e. the amount of push messages the user accepts in a given timeframe). In this way, Mobicus ensures that no push messages are sent to the mobile user if the user has no opt-in, and that if they have opted in, the amount of messages does not exceed the tolerance for that user.

These permissions, like other mobile user data, can be updated and managed when registering through mobile or the web, or can be imported from an external customer database using XML or CSV file formats.

The profile attributes can be used for personalisation, letting users tailor messages according to the customer preferences and behaviour (e.g. time, place, history of usage or any other variable).

Personalisation is possible in four forms:

* message personalisation — for example, the mobile phone user’s name or other personal data will simply be inserted into the message
* content customisation — the replacement of standard content (for example, the default SMS or MMS message) with content that has been customised to match the consumer’s behaviour and preferences

* profile mining — in which customers are categorised according to their profiles and behaviour (e.g. classified as “hot prospects”) and then sent marketing messages that suit precisely their profile. For example, heavy users of a certain service may be detected by profile mining and then automatically sent an offer for a new, similar service. The profile element uses AND, OR and NOT Boolean criteria and allows searching for individual attributes using partial wildcard matches. Once the matching subscriber set has been queried, the system reports with the maximum amount of matched profiles in the segment

* offer customisation — which triggers an offer that has a right-time, right-place promotion and price.
