Mobile Marketing

Advertisements and content can be stored in the Mobile Advertising Server database using its graphical user interface. Smash can also retrieve advertisement content from an external source. This enables the integration of other technologies, such as mobile coupons and online payment, adding value to mobile commerce.

If content selection criteria are needed in a campaign, a content pool can be used.

A pool is a store of content selection criteria. When a campaign is about to send a content item, it effectively asks the pools attached to it which content to send. The criteria within a pool are stored in a numbered sequence. When a pool is selected during the running of a campaign, its criteria are assessed in number order. The first selection criterion to be true is acted upon and is the last criterion assessed in that pool. If a criterion is true, the pool or content attached to that criterion is selected. If a content element is selected, the selection process ends and that content element is sent. If a pool is selected, the selection process contained within the selected pool begins. This process continues until a criterion with a content element attached is true. If none of the criteria in a pool are true, the default is selected. The default can be a pool.

The pool type determines what type of selection criteria it contains. The available pool types are:

* weighted random pool — Smash selects a content item or pool at random from a list that the user enters. The campaign manager defines the relative probability of each pool or content being selected by entering a weighting factor for it in the pool definition

* sequential pool — a list of content items or pools that are sent in order to an end user. The pool wizard allows the position of any pool or content within the list to be changed
* target group pool — a selection criterion of a target group pool is whether the subscriber is in a target group. The target group is selected from a drop-down menu. If a subscriber is in a group, the content or pool associated with that criterion is selected and no more criteria are assessed

* parameter pool — a parameter pool selection criterion is whether the value of a parameter (e.g. in an incoming short message) selected is equal to some text that the user enters

* time pool — a time pool selection criterion is whether Smash time at the moment of assessing the criterion is within a selected period.
